    Hi Guys!

I’m very impressed with your work on mighty grocery so far. It’s nearly the perfect app, and I tested many :)
I have a suggestion though: It would be great if there would be a feature like set an item as needed for several lists at once (I’ve got many items I can buy in more than one shop, and I don’t want to miss to buy it, when I forgot to put it in the other list as well.). Maybe in the Edit-mode for an item, the possibility to put there a link between lists. If I mark it as needed on one list, it’ll be put on the other list as well.

Then I’m a german user of MG, and right now I’m building up my own database (hiding the predefined). If you plan to translate MG into other languages, please feel free to contact me. I would love to help translating it to german!
Thanks so far for the creation :)

    Greetings from germany

      Kristina,

Thank you so much for your sweet feedback. I will be glad to ask your help for translating Mighty Grocery to German. Hopefully we will start translations in a month, so we could publish international versions early next year.

As to suggested feature, I just have added it to the list of plans for the shopping list. Thanks for the suggestion!

I appreciate your feedback and looking forward to any ideas you may come up with using our app.

      Cheers,
      Alex.

    Hi guys,

I found ‘Mighty Grocery’ after testing dozens of shopping applications that either did not what they promised, just the bare minimum, or one needed a degree to use all the features that were overkill for the mortal user. ‘Mighty Grocery’ is simple enough to be used right away but functional enough to be tailored to individual needs. In two words: Great Application!

    Questions and suggestions:
When I enter a new product, that is or is not in the search list, and the quantity is ’1′ and units are ‘each’ they do not show correctly in the shopping list: it shows ‘>’. As soon as the the quantity or the units are changed it shows correctly. Would you please fix that?

Speaking of quantities and units: Would it be possible to increase the font for those? It would make things easier for the – you know – ‘reading fine print challenged’.

Are there plans to make the unit list customizable, like ‘Aisles’ for users or are you providing an update every now and then? Here are some ideas to add for the choices: cups (yogurt), stalk (broccoli), head (cabbage), can (beans), bunch (carrots), ears (corn), tube (toothpaste), jug (milk), carton (orange juice).

Thank you and keep up the good, no, fantastic work.

    Best regards
    Teya

Teya, thank you so much for your such detailed message. I will try to address your questions –

First of all, the “>” button for 1 ea quantity is how we designed the app. Some people just don’t want to track quantity and price so we put a standard button for them. However, I guess you are right saying that this may look inconsistent with other items which have quantity. So we will be adding a setting so that this behavior will be customizable.

Second, the larger font for price/quantity – we planned this along with “Themes” feature. However, we may be considering partial implementation delivered earlier if we see a demand for that.

Third, units customization – this is going to be similar to aisles customization so you will have chance to add/remove units to your taste. Anyway, thanks for the list as we would like to hear what people want to see on the standard units list, shipped with the app.

In conclusion let me suggest our plans page where we keep our future plans for the app. I’ve just updated it to reflect your suggestions.

Thank you again for your feedback and looking forward to your further suggestions.

      Best regards,
      Alex.

        Hi guys,

thank you very much for your quick response and considering my suggestions; not a regular trait in todays business world.

I took a look at your ‘plans-page’ and I am quite impressed: a lot of nifty features to look forward to; I will keep checking back.

I went shopping with ‘Mighty Grocery’ yesterday for the first time. What an experience! Just a tap on the item and my list got shorter until gone (depends on ones settings, of course)!! Easy as 1-2-3!!!

General User Hint – Since I had to start all my shopping lists from scratch (can’t sync my old phone) and did not have all the correct descriptions, I did the following while putting my groceries away: I checked the items bought with the items in the history list and updated when necessary. So next time I put my shopping list together I can choose the correct items and maybe just have to adjust the amount. The effort becomes less and less once one has the basics set.

One thing I’d like to address (perhaps it’s Samsung Galaxy S specific): I open a list item to edit, then I tap a field to edit – the edit window and my on-screen keyboard automatically pop up. I make the changes and save. The edit window closes and my keyboard stays. If I made all the changes necessary and want to leave this item, I have to either push ‘go back’ to close my keyboard in order to uncover the ‘Done’ button and then push that OR I have to push the ‘go back’ button twice. Also e.g., when I edit any text in an item first and then want to change the shopping list for that item I have to push ‘go back’ button to get the keyboard out of the way in order to access the popup-list for the information (same with the aisle). Could the closing of the edit-window-popup combined with the closing of the keyboard? Just curious.

        Best regards
        Teya

Teya, thank you very much for sharing your experience and handy hints. Perhaps, we should suggest such hints in User’s Guide, shouldn’t we?

As to keyboard issue, unfortunately, this is a Galaxy-specific issue and we hadn’t have chance to put our hands on the device yet. If you could run a test app for us aiming to fix the issue, it would be much appreciated.

        Best regards,
        Alex.

I know this may be a question probably answered before but any plans for a Might Grocery for the Iphone? I just switched and was disappointed to find out there was no MG for it. I can only hope! Great Product. I can’t find anything comparable on the iphone that dictates and doesn’t take forever to convert to text. ReQall was the closest but not even close to MG.

    • Alex says:

Terry, thank you for your interest in iPhone version of Mighty Grocery.

I have to say that we utilize a standard voice recognition engine provided by Google for Android platform. And it’s really awesome. Hopefully, by the time we come up with iPhone version of Mighty Grocery there is going to be voice recognition engine with similar recognition quality and speed.

Just an FYI full beta 8 force closes on rooted Droid incredible. Was able to successfully restore full version 7. Most likely a conflict with bar.code scan feature.

    • Alex says:

Amanda, thank you for discovering Beta 8 upgrade issue. It is caused by unexpected empty values in some fields, which might have been cleared by previously fixed defects.

Sorry for inconvenience, today tomorrow (Nov 24th) we are going to publish a quick fix named Beta 8* which will address upgrade issue.

    • Alex says:

Amanda, the update is published which should address the upgrade issue. Please let me know if you could upgrade successfully with the new update.

      • amanda says:

Successfully downloaded beta 8. history is intact. bar code scanner worked for one test item. will let you know if anything pops up as a potential issue. Thanks for the quick fix.

      • Alex says:

Amanda, thank you for getting back and sharing the details of your upgrade.

        All the best!

I was adding foods to my grocery list when it appeared that all I entered were all going to have the same second line that I had entered on a previous item; e.g., I had put on the second line “frozen”, and this was being added to every item thereafter even if I had not put it in AND even if I could not see the second line showing as I added items. Eventually I discovered that if I went ahead and added a ‘return’ but also deleted it again without adding any word, then the ‘phantom’ word “frozen” ceased to haunt my entries thereafter.

This appears to be a small bug. So far I am pleased with your app, and look forward to your improvements, although I have not put the app through all its paces yet.

Hi, I’m very pleased with your application for Android and I was wondering if I can pay the full version via my phone credit.
    Thanks for the reply

    Alex

    • Alex says:

Alex, thank you for your feedback and your question.

It should be possible to pay in Amazon Appstore for the full version of Mighty Grocery using your phone credit. However, not all carriers are supported so you will need to find out if this is applicable to your carrier.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you again.

  8. Thanks for a great apps, but I am facing a problem, when I run the software in Ubuntu10.04 then the Android screen is displayed has been rotated to 180 degree means it is displaying in reverse order. Please help me and send me a proper solution that how can I rotate my screen.
